Naturalization Assistance
Washington New Americans (WNA) partners with community organizations to provide FREE assistance. You may contact a WNA service provider to schedule an eligibility assesment and to receive N-400 application assistance. You may also sign up for services on this website or by calling 1.877.WA.NEWCI(TIZEN) or 1.877.926.3924.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Instruction
Download a list of ESL providers around the state (compiled by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges--SBCTC).
Project Read, a program of the Longview Public Library (1600 Louisiana Street, Longview WA 98632), coordinates one-on-one tutoring for ESL and citizenship interview preparation, as well as other skills. For information, please contact: Elizabeth Partridge, Adult Literacy Coordinator at 360.442.5321. All services are offered free of charge.
Citizenship Test Preparation
Most naturalization applicants must pass a test requiring knowledge of US history, government, and civics. Fortunately, “citizenship workshops” are available throughout the state to assist applicants as they prepare for this exam.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) compiled a list of agencies providing citizenship assistance under the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA):

Additionally, Goodwill Job Training and Education Center in Bellingham offers FREE Citizenship Preparation Interview Classes at 1115 E Sunset Drive, Bellingham WA 98226. Interested students should call the number listed on their flyer to register. The classes require an intermediate ability to read and communication in English. English classes are available for students not currently at that level. Citizenship classes meet on Monday & Wednesday from 2:00-3:30 pm.

A Guide to Naturalization
The Seattle Public Library developed a very helpful set of materials in partnership with the King County Library System and City of Seattle New Citizen Initiative. The citizenship packet includes information on the naturalization process, eligibility and study materials in English.

USCIS Study Materials
The US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has developed materials to assist applicants as they prepare for the citizenship exam. The USCIS materials offer civics and citizenship information.

Application Form
The N-400 form is used to apply for US Citizenship. The form includes instructions. We encourage you to sign up or call 1.877.WA.NEWCITIZEN (1.877.926.3924) for information prior to completing the application. Our services are available to the community at no cost.

Volunteer immigration attorneys, paralegals, and interpreters offer FREE assistance with citizenship applications
The next Citizenship Day will be on Saturday, April 21, from 10am to 3pm in Moses Lake, Mt. Vernon, Tacoma and Vancouver. More information on the location of each event will be available soon.
